The Medicine Hat Regional Hospital is an acute care facility, which also includes supportive rehab/transition beds. Core programs at the regional facility include surgical services, mental health, critical care, paediatrics, 24-hour emergency, ambulatory care, obstetrics, neonatal intensive care (Level 2), geriatric services, community health, home care, X-Ray and lab.
In 2018, a 247,000 square foot, $265 million expansion opened. The new wing features a range of departments including the renal department, the outpatient family maternity clinic, the cancer clinic, day medicine, the laboratory, procedure rooms, six operating rooms, maternity delivery suites, 10 NICU suites, and a rooftop helipad.
