- Career growth opportunities exist in Medicine Hat’s home building sector
- Demand for innovative home design on the rise
Medicine Hat’s business opportunities combined with the comparatively low cost of living hooked skilled carpenter Aaron Procknow to relocate to Canada’s sunniest city.
There won’t be a shortage of projects that require his creativity and skill as Mulder Builders is receiving more demand for custom work. Homeowners are asking the Mulders to transform their nest into their dream home with renovations ranging from a full remodel to aesthetic upgrades such as flooring, paint and cabinets.
“People are starting to take more risks to put modern flare in their home design and going for what they really want,” said Tammy. “Designs on HGTV and Pinterest are inspiring our clients to create unique spaces.”
While there has been more interest in renovations, there continues to be interest from clients who want to upgrade to their second or third home. With views of the river valley and new commercial development and Medicine Hat’s trail network steps away, the Mulders are seeing more interest in the Ranchlands area and Medicine Hat’s workforce is making it possible to meet the demand.
“Medicine Hat has a quality pool of contractors to draw from with owners who are on the job site daily,” said Dave.
Additionally, what the Mulder’s enjoy about working in Medicine Hat is part of what drew Procknow to the city to eventually grow his own business. Local builders have a supportive community facilitated by Canadian Homebuilders Association, making it easier to grow and build client relationships.
Home ownership is also in the foreseeable future for Procknow, as Medicine Hat was recently recognized as Alberta’s most affordable city to purchase a home.
Career advancement, affordable homes and a network of professional contractors is drawing new talent to Medicine Hat. A skilled workforce and a supportive network add to the ease of conducting business and creating new opportunities.
